EARLY PEOPLE OF CAPISTRANO VALLEY

27 Hand-made tiles (each 9x9”) I initially illustrated the three scenes in Adobe Photoshop. The images were then hand-transferred to the tiles, and finally glaze-painted.

FIRST TILE SET:
More than 10,000 years ago, the Acjachemen people came to the Capistrano Valley and were its first inhabitants.
SECOND TILE SET:
In 1775, the Spanish arrived in the valley. Father Junipero Serra founded Mission San Juan Capistrano in 1776.
THIRD TILE SET:
Starting in the mid 19th century, the population of the San Juan Capistrano Valley grew as people from around the United States and the greater world settled here.
